Helpful Tip
Say No To Freshman 15
Eating healthy can be hard, especially when you don't have your parents feeding you home cooked meals. The late night cram study session the night before a big exam, you know your going to need food to keep you up and alert. With all the different, and some unhealthy choices in the cafeteria, staying healthy can be a problem, especially if your not an athlete or out of season. And who wants to take the long walk up the gym, which is always crowded with people. If you don't want to work out the best thing to do is just to eat healthy, which doesn't include the trips to Mcdonalds at 12:30 at night. Salads, especially from the dining hall are always good and you can even add chicken or stake to them, giving you the protein that you need in your daily diet. Also, the different pastas they have to choice from are always good to have as the grains in your diet. The choice of whole grain pasta or regular gives you a variety in your grain choices, as well as innovations, who a lot of the time during the week have different choices of pastas like raviolis with different sauces. If you are an athlete, its also very important to eat healthy so that when you play you perform to your best ability and aren't slowed down by the pizza you ate during lunch. Even in the off season, you don't want to go to the gym and not have a good workout because of the feeling you get from all the greasy food you ate. If you get late night cravings, stock up on fruits and vegetables to keep in your fridge so at least if your eating late at night, its something healthy. Apples and peanut butter are one of my favorites snacks to have late at night when Im studying for a test. As well as celery and cream which most people think would be gross but is actually pretty good. Dont judge it until you try it!

Simone,
ReplyDeleteThis tip of eating healthy is something that everybody can benefit from, especially when avoiding the freshman fifteen like you said. I try eating healthy while here but I find that I have no patients to wait in the lines most of the time and just end up grabbing pizza because it is the fastest thing. I also enjoy celery and cream cheese though which most people think is weird. I guess it’s just a matter of how you were raised with that one, because for me it was something that my mom would give to me. I think that eating healthy in the dining hall is a matter of self-control, considering all of the desserts that are out. Seeing the food is just so tempting to just grad on your way out, especially with the new set up of the dessert station being out where everybody can see. This is good advice though, seeing as everybody always is nervous, and frustrated about gaining the freshman fifteen.
Nicolas Saint Jean,
ReplyDeleteThis tip is a very good one because, we all freshman know about the "Freshman 15" and most of us are not really doing anything about it. It is common in every single college unless if the person is an athlete or if they have friends that are active. This tip is really good for people who have friends that mostly want to sit down telling stories, and have fun without being active. Healthy food is the solution for those freshmen. Say no to McDonald. Fast food is one of the reasons that make college students become overweight, because it is cheap. There are healthy foods in the cafeteria of the school and there are lunch box that you put food in to go back to your hall with. One more thing they should eat four hours before they go back to sleep in order for them to digest the food.
