How to Prepare for a Dirt bike ride:

How to prepare for a Dirt Bike ride

What you should wear:
What not to wear:
Riding a dirt bike is a very difficult activity if you are not prepared in the right way. Dirt biking is very dangerous and safety precautions must be taken before riding to ensure of minimal injuries. Dirt bikes are powerful, heavy, and dangerous and should not be underestimated in any case. Every year thousands of people are admitted to hospitals with dirt bike related injuries that simply could have been avoided if the right preparations were made before hand.
Before riding one must put on the right protection. A riding shirt and riding pants are recommended because they are vented for riding and help reduce ground burns. Dirt bike boots are highly recommended because they protect all the way up to your knee from rocks, dirt, water, and all other things in nature. A helmet is required by the law to ride a dirt bike anywhere in Massachusetts, with that comes a set of goggles for wind protection and from letting things in your eyes. In recent years, a new product hit the market called the Leatt brace. This was a neck brace designed to stop the neck from exceeding the maximum extension both forwards and backwards designed to stop the neck from breaking if the rider was left rag dolling through the air. In todays dirt bike world the Leatt brace is widely used and I personally know people that swear that if not for the Leatt brace they would be dead.
After the proper gear is acquired for the ride, you must make sure your bike is ready for the ride. You may want to fill your bike up with gas depending on how long you intend to ride for but it is recommended. Also, all bikes have an air filter and it is recommended that you clean this before all rides for maximum air intake and for your bike to run at full performance. After this, your bike is ready to be started. Start the bike and let it idle for about five minutes to allow the motor to warm up before you’re on your way.

  1. I went over the summer to ride with Jeff and had an absolute blast! I grew up riding a 2003 Suzuki quad runner 160cc atv and began riding dirt bikes with my friends through our state forest every weekend growing up. The sport of riding is very dangerous but with proper equipment and riding experience its one of the best thrills in the world. I totally agree with the proper equipment needed to stay safe and have fun. When I went to visit Jeff we used boots, helmet, pants, goggles. I recommend this sport to anyone who wants a thrill and have a good time. Riding helps to let everything go and relax with just being one with the bike and ride.
